Greaseīad-boy Danny Zuko (John Travolta) and good-girl Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John) have a summer fling, but things take a dramatic turn once school starts. SerendipityĪ lightweight romance which is sometimes corny and most times delightful, you’ll find yourself cheering for the main leads as the movie progresses. Breakfast at Tiffany’sĭitsy, flirty, charming and as old-school as it gets, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is an unfailingly watchable mix of laughs, contradictions and nostalgia. Heartfelt and magical, with cinematography to die for, we’ll leave this one up to your discretion. While La La Land doesn’t have the quintessential ending one would expect, it has a joyful, nuanced quality to it that just can’t bring you down. Spirited and life-affirming, the story feels like a celebration of life itself. One of the all-time greats - this classic is the ultimate antidote for a bad day. But the eventual result is feel-good done right on every level. Silver Linings PlaybookĪ love story about two damaged people trying to put their lives back together - there’s something about this movie that is hilarious yet inspiring and in parts pensive. Home AloneĪnother movie(s) that is a great all-year round watch, Home Alone is a blithely fun and comforting watch that never gets old. Sentimental, moving and sufficiently cheesy, this classic romcom is replete with wonderful moments and an impressive cast. The School of RockĪn absolute crowd pleaser with the perfect soundtrack and Jack Black in his element - this is a fun, heart-warming and infectious musical comedy that can and should be watched at any age. Magnificent on every level and a thoroughly satisfying watch - the only acceptable way to binge this epic masterpiece is the extended editions. To be fair, Lord of The Rings is the perfect watch any time of the year. Starring the ultimate rom-com power couple Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan - You’ve Got Mail is witty and charming and only gets better with every rewatch. They really don’t make them like this anymore. Midnight in ParisĪ personal favourite, Midnight in Paris is a whimsical, romantic and joyful comedy-drama with a dreamy 1920s Paris as backdrop that transports you to another world. If you need a shot of happiness in all this rain and gloom, we highly recommend curling up in your pyjamas with one of these feel-good movies that are guaranteed to pick you up if you’re feeling down.
