It easily allows you to stay in touch with your teachers/professors (As long as they use Edmodo regularly). If you miss a class, the teacher is able to send a video of the lectures given that day. This is very helpful when it comes to deliver certain assignments. The Backpack system is linked to Office 365, it lets you drop by documents as long as it is part of the Office suite, although it also accepts archives in PDF format. It has a simple and familiar dashboard that closely resembles Facebook and LinkedIn, Pros: My answer is coming from a student's perspective, because I have not used Edmodo as a teacher or as an Educational Institution:Įdmodo is one of those applications that you can hardly find anything negative, it just probably misses certain features that could enhance the user's experience. So if you're a teacher or even a special ed teacher, I would definitely take the jump and do Edmodo. It's made my planning and access to my assignments a lot easier for me and save me time. If you're thinking about it or thinking about something else, I would definitely choose Edmodo and jump right into it.Īs a teacher, I've enjoyed it. You can get on your phone, you can upload assignments, you can communicate right then. And Google Classroom just didn't work out as well. And for the little kids, I'm an elementary school and they absolutely love it. If you're thinking about getting Edmodo, I would go for it. And that was easiest way for me with younger kids to get started on Edmodo and for them to have easy access to that. And I had their computers in front of them at the same time, the Chromebooks for them to do that. I felt that that was the best way for me to show them exactly how to do it with hands-on. So they knew what to do, where to find things. And then in the classroom I put it on the smart board to walk the kids through. I sent home a letter for the parents because I had younger children for them to help access that. To get my kids going on Edmodo and get all that integrated for them. And it was just well-rounded and Edmodo worked very well for my special education classroom. I could check if they had any concerns or questions, they could leave a comment or ask a question easily. If they didn't have internet access, I could download the app and use it that way. It allowed them to access that from their phone. Being a special ed setting, I had to have something that was pretty simple to navigate for students and parents. I chose Edmodo for my classroom because it was easy to access for my students. We were going to use ClassDojo, but it didn't meet my needs as well as Edmodo did. Edmodo was super easy for my kids to get on and leave comments and find their assignments. Google Classroom, it was hard for my parents to access, my kids to navigate. I used it for a little while, and then I chose Edmodo because it met my needs more than Google Classroom did.
